Computer finished!
I have finally finished my computer!!! Two days ago, I put all of the parts together. It’s not TOO hard…and it’s a lot of fun. It’s a lot like a big puzzle…
Next I had to load Windows XP, and then overwrite it with Windows Vista. I got Windows Vista from someone who works at Microsoft (heh…they get a 90% discount…so for Vista Ultimte…normally $600…I paid $60
), but they accidentally got me the UPGRADE version…so you have to have a previous version of windows installed first (hence why I had to load XP first). I love it! I installed Vista 64-bit…which is awesome because it means it can fully utilize my 8GB of RAM that I have in my computer. The computer runs so fast it’s amazing.
SIDENOTE: For all interested…the day I was ordering my parts…I noticed that my 2.2Ghz quad-core processer wasn’t in stock…so I upgraded. I went with the AMD Phenom 9850 BLACK edition 2.5Ghz quad-core!!! Which, by the way, I found out, is the BEST processor you can GET from AMD.
New Computer
Hehe…well, my hard drive showed up for my new computer today…the ironic thing is that it came all the way from Tenessee, and has shown up before my stuff that shipped (same day/time) from California.
Go figure.
I also stopped by our local computer surplus store today and grabbed some SATA and IDE power and data cables…because apparently the “Open box” motherboard I’m getting from Newegg only includes the motherboard…and none of the accoutrements. I can’t wait for tomorrow, when the rest of my boxes are scheduled to show up!!!
Amazing Grace
My friend Josiah and I recorded “Amazing Grace (My Chains are Gone)” by Chris Tomlin, with both of us singing and playing the guitar. It was an on-the-fly deal…but it turned out great.
Comments appreciated! amazing-grace-my-chains-are-gone
New Computer
For all those tekkies out there…
I’m building my own computer within the next week or two…so I’m ordering all my parts. It’s going to be pretty cool…I’m hoping it runs a little better than my current laptop. My laptop isn’t bad…but it’s not built for the amount of programs I have on it…and the hard drive is almost full. But for anyone interested, here’s the specs on the computer that I’m building:
Motherboard: ASUS M3A32-MVP Deluxe AM2+/AM2 AMD 790FX ATX AMD
Graphics card: DIAMOND Radeon HD 1GB 128-bit GDDR2 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready
RAM: G.SKILL 8GB (4 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2
Processor: AMD Phenom 9500 Agena 2.2GHz 4 x 512KB L2 Cache 2MB L3 Cache Socket AM2+ Quad-core
Computer case: XION II XON-103 Black SECC Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case
Disc drives: One DVDRW/CDRW drive, and one LightScribe laser DVDRW/CDRW drive.
Hard Drive: Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD7500AAKS 750GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s
So in other words…this computer should last me for quite awhile.
Total estimated price? Only $880!
Yes, you heard (er…saw) right! I was shocked to find out it is going to be that cheap. A friend of mine told me that it was cheaper to build your own computer…and now I find out that it really IS!
Also, for all interested, I’m buying all of my parts (except for the lightscribe DVD drive) from www.newegg.com, which is basically THE site to go to for computer stuff.
Trip to Waldport Oregon
OK, so here is the long awaited post on my trip to Waldport Oregon for our church’s VBA!
It was an AWESOME time…just like the last. They were both awesome, yet in different ways. I really couldn’t choose between Waldport or Latah…there are different qualities in each.
NOTE: You can click on any of the pictures to bring up the full image. Please do not use these images without permission. You can also move your mouse over the image to view captions.
Saturday, July 12: We drove to church at 11:00 and loaded up our stuff into the different cars, and the trailer. We left our church at around noon, and hit the road. The travel time is pretty long…top of Washington to the midwestern part of Oregon (almost EXACTLY in the middle of Oregon, and right on the coast), so it was about a 7.5 hour drive. We arrived at around 7:30 p.m, and the people at First Baptist Church of Waldport had dinner all ready for us. There are some GREAT people in Waldport. After dinner, we unpacked all of the cars, got our sleeping bags, suitcases, etc, and put them into the cars we were taking to our houses we would be staying at for the rest of the week. I was excited, because I got to stay in a trailer on the grounds of the church…so all my stuff was right there if I needed it.
Two other guys stayed with me…my good friend Cameron Partch, and my other friend Kevin White. They are both older than I am…around 23 years old…but we have a great time, and lots of good conversations.
After we took out all of our VBA stuff and put it in a room inside the church to set up the next day, we set up a new volleyball net that Cameron actually MADE. It’s awesome…SUPER strong. The previous net was somewhat of a joke, because it was so flimsy that it kept breaking. This new one is a NICE net.
Here are some cool pictures I took…these are some of my favorite pictures EVER that I have taken.I said I would upload more pictures for this post, so you’re getting more here. It’s taken me FOREVER to upload them all.
Sunday, July 13: Today I got to sleep in for quite a while because it was Sunday, and services didn’t start until 10:00 a.m. I got up at 9:00…and was very surprised, because my fold-out bed in the motor home was actually very comfortable, and I had a great night’s sleep. At 10:00, they had the youth sunday school, where four of the older young adults in our group (around age 22-25) gave their testimonies, some of which were very moving. After the Sunday school, the actual service began. It was a really good service. I and three other people sang one of the songs that the kids would be learning during the VBA, which is actually a very cool song, with real sign language for the hand motions. It sounded really good, because we sang in 4-part harmony, with one other person playing the piano.
After service and lunch (which was a barbeque of hamburgers and hot dogs), we got busy setting everything up. We had several carports which were used as tents for different activities outside, which we set up, plus LOTS of crépe paper and such that we had to hang inside. There was a BEAUTIFUL hand-painted “undersea” backdrop for the stage, made by someone from our church as well. After we got everything set up (which took about 3-4 hours), we got to play a little volleyball before bed.
Monday, July 14: Today was the first day of VBA! We had quite a few kids…I think it was about 91. I was working with 7-10 year old boys, and I had 4 in my group. There were about twentysomething 7-10 year old boys total. The ones I had were actually really good, so that made me happy. A lot of the kids that we minister to in Waldport are children of druggies, or alcoholics, etc. Many of them are living with their grandparents. Anyway, all of the themes for the day were the same as Latah…see my previous post for what they were. The day went well, and we had a good time with the kids, all of whom wanted to come back. After lunch, it was our work party day. We all left at 2:00 p.m. in groups of about 5 and went to different houses to do work. Me and 4 other guys went to an elderly lady’s house, and helped pull creeping ivy from her yard. It wasn’t fun work, but we had fun talking with each other while working, and we even came up with a REALLY cool version of the next day’s song. It was the basic tune of the song, but with the other 4 guys doing a chant in the background, and me singing it in a thick scottish accent. When we got back to the church, we performed it in front of everyone, and had them rolling with laughter. Once I get that video from the guy who took it, I’ll see if I can get it posted on here. After dinner we played some more volleyball, before having our guy’s Bible study, and going to bed. I have some notes from some of the Bible studies, which I’ll post later.
Tuesday, July 15: Second day of VBA. Again, it went excellently. However, one of the kids in my group had to leave, because something was happening with his dad…and they had to move temporarily down to Texas. They didn’t know anything about it until today. Today was a free day, so after lunch, our whole group went to a large aquarium, which was about a 15 minute drive from the church. It was really cooL! Lots of cool fish, sharks, and stuff. My favorite part though was the very small “petting zoo” part, where I actually got to touch a couple of stingrays and some sharks!!! When we left the aquarium at 5:00 p.m., we went and had a picnic dinner on a grassy area outside. I got a coca-cola can, and started shoving my trash (like potato chip bags) inside it…when I decided to see how much stuff I could fit inside a coke can! It became a huge joke, because everyone started bringing me their trash, and I was shoving it into every nook and cranny inside the small coke can. In the end…I was able to fit 12 sandwich baggies (ziplock bags), 22 of the “personal-size” potato chip bags, and one paper bag that came from the aquarium giftshop! So now it’s sort of an inside joke with everyone, because I was so obsessed with trying to get the can COMPLETELY full…:D
Here’s some pictures from the aquarium.
Wednesday, July 16: VBA was AWESOME today! Today was the day where we talk all about Jesus, and what He did for us on the cross. I was SO excited, because after one of the story sessions where the story was told about Jesus raising Lazarus from the dead, and then talking about how Jesus raised HIMSELF from the dead, etc, and the kids were told how to say the prayer, one of my 8-year-old boys came up to me and said “I prayed the prayer along with the lady!”
I said: “Oh, that’s really awesome! Have you never asked Jesus into your heart before?”
He said: “Well, when I was three, I did, because my mom told me that I would be a sinner, but I never really understood what I was doing. Now I do understand, and I feel so happy!”
We were all SO excited…it made our whole week.
Also, we were REALLY excited…we broke our all-time Waldport record for most number of kids on a particular day…103 kids!!! Our previous record was 102.
After VBA, it was another work day. One group went down the highway and picked up trash, some other groups went to houses and did weeding, and the group I was in stayed at the church, weeding the flowerbeds and putting down beauty bark. Afterwards, we had dinner and Bible study.
Here’s a couple pictures of the kids at VBA:
Thursday, July 17: We had another decision for Christ today! We were all excited. We don’t usually have more than 1…if that! So it’s good to know that we’re making a difference! After the VBA today, it was another “off” day, so we went to the beach! It was a REALLY nice beach! There was almost NOBODY there…only about 5 people (besides us). We set up the volleyball net, and played several games, and also played a really fun game of Ultimate frisbee…with a MASSIVE field on the beach. I played REALLY hard, and my feet hurt really bad because I’m flatfoot…and I took my shoes off for the running. But I still had a BLAST. There was also a big sand ridge before you get on the beach…about 15 feet tall, that runs the length of the beach. It was probably created by the tide coming up JUST to there so many times that it washed all the sand up to it away. Most beaches have something like that. Anyway, lots of us jumped off of it onto the sand below…it was really fun! It’s REALLY psycological, because you look down, and you’re 15 feet up. But as long as you don’t lock your knees, you land fairly soft. So I have a TON of awesome pictures of people jumping in the air.
Here’s some of the pictures from the beach:
Friday, July 18: Today we packed back up all of our stuff after the VBA (we had yet another decion for Christ today!). The trip back was long, but still fun. It was longer than we expected…we left at 3:00 p.m., and we didn’t arrive at church until around 11:00 p.m., then we had to unload all the stuff, and then load our luggage into our own cars before coming home. I didn’t get home until around 12:30 a.m.! Yikes…
So there you have it! Yet another AMAZING week, which God has really used in my life. My next post will probably be talking about some of my Bible reading and the studies we had.
Additional Latah pics (July 7, 2008)
Just to let you all know, I’ve updated my Latah post from about 1 1/2 weeks ago with some pictures. I’m also going to put some here.
I got in the mood for taking some cool, people shots, and I got some AWESOME ones! I was SO happy with the way they turned out.
Todd Bentley (July 7, 2008)
I’ve discussed issues regarding “faith healer” Todd Bentley, and the “Lakeland healing revival” quite a bit recently. I would like to post some thoughts on him here. Also, most of the following post was researched and written by SupermanJMO (blog at www.elyonscircle.com/blogs/Superman) .
First of all, I would like to refer you all to the following set of videos, which provide an excellent view as to some of the major controversial issues with Bentley:

This is very concerning, as I believe the man to be demon possessed. Unfortunately, this sounds a LOT like an antichrist scenario. Matthew 24:24 ‘For there shall arise Christs and false prophets and shall show great signs and wonders in so much that if it were possible they shall deceive the very elect.’”
If you watch the 6-part series I told you about, you can SEE that he is NOT of God! His “testimony” is ridiculous, and even absurd at times, directly contradicting God’s word, and his “healings” are also unbiblical.
The 6 videos together are under an hour, so I would encourage you to watch them.
Also, there are a couple more recent developments that Worldview (www.christianworldviewnetwork , www.worldviewtraining.com), an EXCELLENT Christian site, mentions. The videos are here (they are linked from youtube, so you won’t be able to see these two unless you can access youtube):
http://www.christianworldviewnetwork.com/article.php/3660/
http://www.christianworldviewnetwork.com/article.php/3690/
He is a lying snake, and should not be trusted, as is VERY CLEARLY evident in these videos. Listen to him tell about his “testimony” of how God started him on his “mission”, etc…and the lakeland “revival” is STILL going on. I no more believe this man is of God than I believe that God does not exist. EVERYTHING he does is unbiblical. Search the scriptures carefully, test the spirits, and be as wise as serpents, yet harmless as doves. Run EVERYTHING he does through scripture (the videos previously mentioned do this…they are excellent), and you will see that he is nothing but a fraud, who I strongly believe to be possessed with a demon (or several).
Also, here is another excellent article: http://www.christianworldviewnetwork.com/article.php/3636/By_Jan_Markell
[From Superman]
In an attempt to put this issue at rest, I’ve spent the entire night gathering articles and quotes and information and so on about Todd Bentley and the Lakeland Revival. This is by far not the definitive word on the subject; it’s not exhaustive and it probably doesn’t cover many of the counter-objections I’m sure that will come up. But, it should be able to convince anyone willing to listen and look at the evidence, that Todd Bentley is a false prophet.
In Lakeland, and you can watch the video here for yourself, God has allegedly told Bentley that he wants the people to believe in THE ANGEL. Now, this angel remains unnamed, so which angel it is (Bentley seems to know a few), I don’t know. Let me quote:
“Now let me talk about an angelic experience. Twice Bob Jones asked me if I had seen a particular angel that was in Kansas City in 1980. He asked me as if he expected that this angel was appearing to me. He told me that this angel helped birth and start the whole prophetic movement in Kansas City in the 1980’s as well as helping to nurture the prophetic as it broke out.”
http://www.freshfire.ca/index.php?Act=read…pid=954&bid=955
As a sidenote, this Bob Jones is not the same Bob Jones of Bob Jones University. Heavens no. This Bob Jones is the Bob Jones from the Kansas City Prophets. Who, if you recall, had young ladies strip naked before him to receive a prophetic word from him in private and used his “prophetic authority” to molest women. His quote: “In recent months, I have manipulated certain people for selfish reasons on the basis of my prophetic gifting,” Jones said in a statement that he dictated and signed before the Metro Vineyard Fellowship senior leadership on November 4, 1991. “I have been guilty of sexual misconduct, and I deeply regret this. (I have not committed adultery.) ”
And if that’s not troubling enough, regarding prophetic accuracy, he has said that “Some prophets were as low as 10 percent accurate with some of the most mature prophets having a rating approaching 85 percent to 95 percent.” Now hang on. What does the Bible say about prophets? (Deut 18)
Now we have a man who one, directly contradicts God’ Word; two, is known for his false prophecies; three, makes Bill Clinton look moral; and four, is Bentley’s mentor, and the man who first told Bentley of this angel.
Now, we go on to point two. Not only is the guy who tells Bentley about this angel a little more than theologically wacko, but WHO is this angel. This article used to tell you, but it’s been edited. You can read the full article at the link I got this original quote from:
“Now let me talk about an angelic experience with Emma. Twice Bob Jones asked me about this angel that was in Kansas City in 1980: “Todd, have you ever seen the angel by the name of Emma?” He asked me as if he expected that this angel was appearing to me. Surprised, I said, “Bob, who is Emma?” He told me that Emma was the angel that helped birth and start the whole prophetic movement in Kansas City in the 1980s. She was a mothering-type angel that helped nurture the prophetic as it broke out.”
http://www.etpv.org/2003/angho.html
So we have the angel named. Emma. Wonderful. Once again, this is the angel that birthed the prophetic movement in Kansas City, led by such wonderful men like
Bob Jones, whose theological shortcomings we’ve already discussed
Paul Cain, an alcoholic and homosexual (see http://www.charismamag.com/display.php?id=10627) who is also well-known for his off-the-wall theology.
Rick Joyner, who has denied Christ’s humanity and became a Y2K prophet in the 1990s: ”The most severe difficulties will come from the panic generated by the situation” and ” The Lord told me to observe the problems that Y2K will cause in the natural world as a reflection of the problems we have in the body of Christ.”
As well as many others….Jones and Cain have actually been present and spoke at the Lakeland Revivals, which really makes one wonder.
But I’ve been on a side-note. The angel’s name was Emma. Which, once again, jumps out at me, because it’s a feminine name. Bentley (and Jones) make it clear that this was a female manifestation. Now, here’s the interesting thing. If you read the entire article, more than just my quote, you can tell that Bentley is talking about a FEMALE manifestation (despite the fact that angels always appear in Scripture as male). In fact, quoting Bentley:
In the case of the angel called “Emma,” who I described as having mother-like nurturing qualities, some have automatically assumed that my doctrine is that I believe in female angels. This has never been the case! For whatever reason God chose to show me this angel in a female persona, He did.
http://www.freshfire.ca/?Id=1059&pid=993
So I think we can come to the conclusion that we’re talking about a FEMALE manifestation. But hold on. Let’s read some of Bentley’s book, Reality of the Supernatural World:
“A while ago, Bob Jones told me about an angel that helped birth the entire prophetic movement in Kansas City in the 1980s…He appeared young–about 22 years old–but old at the same time. It was as though he carried the wisdom, virtue, and grace of Proverbs 31.”
Wait. Now SHE’s a HE? But still with the grace of Proverbs 31? To keep Bentley’s story straight, we’ve got to have some sort of cross-dressing angel, and to avoid that mental picture and the elaborate rhetoric used to explain such a slip of tongue, I think we can concede that Bentley is being deceitful here.
But I’m not done with this he/she Emma/unnamed angel manifestation. Bentley can’t get his story straight so we could assume that it doesn’t exist, which would be nice, but I’m not totally convinced of that. Instead, let’s see who Emma might be.
Now if you listen to early Bentley, before all the fuss and furor about Emma came about, he would also often call her Emma-O. Which is interesting, because Emma-O is the Japanese lord of Death and king of Hell. Perhaps this is a coincidence…but then again, Mr. Bentley, since having this encounter with Emma or Emma-O has progressively covered himself in Japanese tattoos
He has a large Japanese Kanji symbol on his left arm. On a leg is the warrior Apollo, who in mythology and alchemy, has spiritual and symbolic significance identical with that of the sun. The spreading golden hairs which crown the god’s head have the same meaning as the bow and arrow (sun rays). The Greek name for Apollo is Apollon, also call Apollyon in scripture, or Hebrew “Abaddon” (Rev. 9:11) Why does Bentley choose to embellish the god of destruction on his body? Also, Bentley has tattooed under his arm a depiction of Jesus’ crucified upside-down face with a subliminal monkey in the beard. Above the tip of the head, is a tattoo of what is said to be Oni, a “Buddhist guardian devil”.
Also, Bentley would like you to think he’s had these tattoos for most of his life, since before he began to preach, even though video evidence (he had a mullet) says otherwise.
“Todd claimed when he was 18 he said ‘God I want to be part of a global movement.’ When he was preaching to 20 people, he said ‘God, the biggest stadiums in the world are not going to be able to hold the masses.’ Todd said he wanted to preach to stadiums filled, but claims church people at the time said of him: ‘That tattooed preacher Todd Bentley, you’ll never go anywhere looking like that!’ My leadership team said: ‘Todd, I don’t know, you go all those tattoos on your body, I don’t know, they’re gonna hurt your ministry.’ ‘How many know God wants to use you as you are?’ then said Todd. The crowd then whistled, cheered and clapped.”—From the June 23rd meeting.
But Bentley didn’t have these tattoos at 18. He didn’t have these tattoos until he met Emma. Interesting. Proof can be found by watching videos of him preaching in Toronto.
So let’s recap. Todd Bentley’s circle of mentors and friends are not encouraging. One of these friends more or less introduced Bentley to the angel Emma, supposedly responsible for starting the revival led by Bentley’s aforementioned immoral and heretical friends. Emma or Emma-O is the Japanese Lord of Death and King of Hell. And shortly after encountering Emma, Bentley begins to cover himself in Japanese occultic tattoos.
And yet there is a discussion about whether this is a man of God? And don’t think for a minute this is an exhaustive treatise, either. I’m sure there is more about Bentley to be discovered.

In closing, let me quote A.W. Tozer:
Many tender-minded Christians fear to sin against love by daring to inquire into anything that comes wearing the cloak of Christianity and breathing the name of Jesus. They dare not examine the credentials of the latest prophet to hit their town lest they be guilty of rejecting something which may be of God. They timidly remember how the Pharisees refused to accept Christ when He came, and they do not want to be caught in the same snare, so they either reserve judgment or shut their eyes and accept everything without question. This is supposed to indicate a high degree of spirituality. But in sober fact it indicates no such thing. It may indeed be evidence of the absence of the Holy Spirit. Gullibility is not synonymous with spirituality. Faith is not a mental habit leading its possessor to open his mouth and swallow everything that has about it the color of the supernatural. Faith keeps its heart open to whatever is of God, and rejects everything that is not of God, however wonderful it may be. Try the spirits is a command of the Holy Spirit to the Church. We may sin as certainly by approving the spurious as by rejecting the genuine. And the current habit of refusing to take sides is not the way to avoid the question. To appraise things with a heart of love and then to act on the results is an obligation resting upon every Christian in the world.

Date not working (July 7, 2008)
July 7, 2008
Hmmm…it seems like the date function is not working properly next to my posts…they all say April 21. So, I shall just put it up above my post! Please ignore the little calender icon.
EDIT:I removed the little calendar thingy, so now you can either look at the date on top of the post, or in the footer bar at the bottom of my post.
SECOND EDIT: I installed a new theme, and the date now works.
